Learning to play songs moves to a new level of simplicity with the new Your Tempo learning mode. The one thing that is very noticeable about this product is that the keys and the keyboard seem small and are hard for someone that has large fingers, as someone with acoustic experience may have trouble hitting the wrong keys.
If you find one section of the song a little difficult, simply engage the Repeat and Learn button and the DGX will stay on that section, repeating it until you feel comfortable.
I would say that this model would be best for the beginning piano player up to the intermediate player, but may not have enough for those looking to play in front of a crowd.

Call up a song, press the notation button so that you can see the music, press left hand or right hand or both at once for two-handed learning, and the keyboard and notation will speed up and slow down as you do, literally following you through the song.
And to make it easy and fun, when you select one of the styles, the One Touch Setting function will automatically configure keyboard parameters, such as voice selection and digital effects, to match that selected music style.
While you can definitely tell the difference between this model and an acoustic piano, the difference is not as much as some of the other Yamaha digital pianos gdx I have worked with before. Even if you can’t play piano and can’t read a note of music, you can still have some musical fun.

As an owner of a Yamaha DGX digital piano and a 3 year piano player, my student Samantha Ispan will look further into this piano. You are also able to create sound mixes of your own using Layer and Split modes. With that being said, the sound and extras make it a pretty good choice and something that a part-time piano player like myself can live with.
For those looking to take their piano playing more seriously they may not like this model, but it could always be good to have as a backup or practice piano especially if you can find one at a good used piano store. Stereo Not just 2 Speakers We all know that stereo sound adds realistic character and spatial depth. One dedicated button brings up a great sounding piano, stunningly rich and authentic in its sound and exceptionally responsive to your playing touch, as well as setting up the keyboard to play as a piano in full keyboard mode. Since I am currently in college, I only tend to play on the weekends and maybe twice a week at the most.
